Low-Power Solar Charge Controllers
with Maximum Power Point Tracking
and Low Voltage Disconnect
As the latest addition to Genasun's GV product line, the brings the benefits of Maximum Power Point Tracking and a Low Voltage Disconnect to the smallest panels yet. Tracking the electrical maximum power point improves the performance of solar battery-charging systems by 10-30%. During partial shading, gains can exceed 50%.
The Low Voltage Disconnect allows a load to be connected directly to this charge controller. The GV-5 will automatically disconnect the load from the battery when the battery voltage drops too low. When the battery voltage has recovered, the load will be reconnected to the battery. This is very useful for remote or autonomous installations.
The GV-5 also has a special built-in circuit that allows it to start up with no battery present, ensuring compatibility with most lithium battery protection systems that require a voltage present before a charging source is connected to the battery.
